Happy Pokemon Day!
Today is a special day, 30 years ago Pokemon Red Blue and Green released on the Gameboy in Japan. Ever since then they have been capturing the hearts of gamers around the world.
To celebrate The Pokemon International had a Pokemon Presents livestream. You can watch the full thing here or scroll down for a TLDNW.
First up was a neat little gadget that plays the original music from Red and Blue in a Gameboy shaped player. This is available for purchase for £59.99.
Next they talked about how Pokemon Worlds will be taking place in San Fransisco this year along side Pokemon XP a new fan experience for non esports and tcg players.
Next up was a hint at a new 30th anniverary celebrations TCG set.
Then we moved on to 10th Anniversary for Pokemon Go Happening this Year as well as the return of a majority of the pokemon that have already appeared in the game over the years returning a great time to fill any gaps in your pokedex. There are also celebrations updates for Pokemon Masters EX, Pokemon Cafe, Pokemon Sleep, Unite and TCG Pocket.
Next up is a big one! Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness finally hits the Nintendo Online Expansion Pass for game cube on switch 2, this was one of my favourites back in the day so exited to play this again on switch 2
Then we got another trailer for Fire Red and Leaf Green which launch today on switch and switch 2. There is also clarification on how the pokemon home support will work for these games, although this is not available at launch, which is standard practice for pokemon games in order to encourage a clean playthrough. Although it looks like pokemon in Fire Red and Leaf Green will be a one way transfer from the game to Pokemon Home.
Next we got a trailer for pokemon chapions which will also be coming to switch in April of this year. I personally am pretty excited about this one I felt like pokemon lacked an official stanalone pvp battling game.
Next there was more information regarding the Pokemon ZA DLC as well as the upcoming Pokopia Game. Then finally the thing we where all waiting for. Pokemon Winds and Pokemon Waves the first mainline game exclusive to the switch 2 and the start of Generation 10 Set for global release in 2027. Man this looks good so far and I am looking forward to it after my positive experiance with Pokemon ZA. Hopefully as well targeting the Switch 2 only will also give this game the best shot to finally for the first time in a long time have a main line game that isn't laden with issues at launch.
